| Message: | My family moved from Germany in the early 1850s. My great grandfather was George Bauer, whose father and older brother were named Nicholas. In the late 1850s, my great-grandfather changed the spelling of his last name to Bower. The rest of the family retained Bauer. Nicholas Bauer moved to Boston in the late 1850s, and my side of the family lost touch with them. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Replying to: I'm looking for any information on Bauer lineage with a Francis Bauer born on April 3, 1906, i believe in the U.S., and died in 1997, and a Civil War soldier Nicholas Bauer in the same line. |
