Message:   Does anyone have any further information about John BOWER, schoolmaster (and once tutor to Lord Byron), born abt 1760, probably in or near Aberdeen?

What we know is that he married Ann TOUGH (Touch?) in 1784 and had the following children:

1. John (ch. 30 Jan. 1786, St. Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen) who became Rev. Bower of Mary Culter,  Abderdeen, and married Sarah Christina WILSON, had dau. Agnes E. who married John DALLAS in 1862),

2. William J. (ch. 8 Jul 1787, St. Nicholas Parish), moved to Canada about 1811, married Elizabeth SCHWERDFEGER in Williamsburgh, Ontario, in 1819, and had three children: John Conrad, Ann Catherine, and Robert Samuel. He also raised as his own Elizabeth's illegitimate son Joseph, born in 1813,

3. Robert BOWER, (Ch. 14 Feb 1890, St. Nicholas), became surgeon in Royal Navy, and

4. Elizabeth (ch. 24 Dec. 1791) and (probably) married Donalds SUTHERLAND in Aberdeen in 1823.

My cousins (three of whom I found through genealogy!) and I would love to learn anything more about John Bower or his descendants.
