George Codding, (1734-1816), turned out from Dighton as a minute man at the Rhode Island Alarms under Capt. Elijah Walker, Col. Pope's Bristol county Regiment. He died at Bristol Center, N. Y.

He is buried on his estate near Beaver Creek, as is also his only son Henry, who inherited the property.

On account of his service "the Commander-in-Chief presents him with a horse, arms and accoutrements in his possession as a gratuity." This was done by a resolution of Congress. In 1825 he applied for a pension and it was granted and in 1848 his widow was allowed a pension. He was born in Montgomery Co., Pa.; died in Lycoming Co., Pa.
