ALBERTA BOWERS

Mrs. Alberta Bowers of Ford City RD1 and native of Punxsutawney, died in her home yesterday following a long illness. Mrs. Bowers was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kromer, who now reside on Indiana RD 3. The deceased was born in Punxsutawney on February 1, 1917 and was united in marriage with Kenneth Bowers June 30, 1949.

Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, are two brother; Raymond of Indiana and Melvin of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Delbert Nichols of Hunkers, Pa; a son, Kenneth, at home; and a daughter Diane, also at home.

Friends will be received today from 7 o'clock until 9 o'clock in the Bowser funeral Home in Plumville and from 2 o'clock until 4 o'clock and 7 o'clock until 9 o'clock Tuesday Services will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock with Internment in the Dunkard Cemetery, near Rural Valley.

ALBERTA M. BOWER

Alberta M. (Boyer) Bower, 66, of Niagara Falls, N.Y., died January 15, 1998 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Bower was born July 7 1931 in Roulette, the daughter of Sidney and Edith (Farren) Boyer. She married William C. Bower. Active in community affairs, she was employed as a chambermaid at a Best Western motel for several years.

Surviving relatives include her husband, William C. Bower; a son William E. Bower; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; five brothers; Edward Boyer of Morton, N.Y.

Frank Boyer of Palm Desert, Ca., Bernard Boyer of Thermal, Ca., Sylvester Corey of Elbon, and Joseph Corey of Ridgeway; five sisters; Achsa Marie Ford of Palm Springs, Ca., Anna Prokow of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Avah Parise of Walston, Nellie Stritzinger of New York City, and Cherie Langston of Cleveland, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by a daughter, Marie Sanders; her parents; a sister, Aretta Obleski Morris; and a brother, John Boyer.

MISS ALICE BOWERS

January 15, 1905

Funeral services will be held here Sunday afternoon for Miss Alice Bowers, of Punxsutawney RD2. Who died Friday in Brookville at the age of 87.

Miss Bowers, a lifelong resident of the Punxsutawney area, was born September 7, 1877, in Gaskill Township, a daughter of William and Minerva Winslow Bowers.

During her lifetime she had been an active member of the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church and had taught Sunday school there for many years. She belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and had been a nurse in the Sewickley Valley Hospital.

Surviving are these nieces and nephews, Mrs. Josephine Murray Bamford, of Ellwood City; Mrs. Lula Murray Cooper, of Ambridge; Mrs. Thomas Dorrian, of Chicago; William B. Means; of Valier; Dr. Arnold Gibson of Los Angeles, and Dr. Paul Bowers, of Philadelphia. She was the last of her family.

Friends will be received in the Schenkemeyer Funeral Home here after 3:30 o'clock this afternoon and funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the funeral home. The Rev. George C. Culp will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

MRS. ALICE BOWERS DIES AT AGE OF 85

Mrs. Alice Bowers, a resident of Rochester Mills, died in the, home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Krugman in Elyria, O., Sunday at the age of 85.

Mrs. Bowers was born in Canoe Twp., Indiana County, Oct. 6, 1872, a daughter of David and Frances Colkitt Work. She was married to Austin Gary Bowers, who died in 1955.

Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. Arthur Krugman and Mrs. C.A. Linderman, of Elyria, Ohio; Mrs. Phil Sherer of Media, O., and Mrs. Thomas Kline of Rochester Mills; a brother, Edgar Work of Rochester Mills, five grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Rochester Mills Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, near Rochester Mills. Friends are being received in the home in Rochester Mills.

ANDREW C. BOWERS DIED LAST EVENING

Feb. 7, 1913

Andrew Clark Bowers, for twenty five years a resident of Punxsutawney, died last evening at seven o'clock at the home of Mrs. David Sink, on South Jefferson Street, aged fifty years. Cancer caused death.

Mr. Bowers was born in the Bowers settlement in Gaskill Township and for a quarter of a century had resided in Punxsutawney, his services being given during that time to the BR&P Railway Company and to the R&P Coal & Iron Company.

The deceased, who was known to his myriad of friends as "Petey," was held in high esteem by all. He is survived by his father, Andrew Bowers, of Big run, and the following brothers and sisters; Israel, of Gaskill Township; Daniel, of Kane; Grant, of Big Run; Harry, of California; Mrs. Charles Redding, of Punxsutawney; Mrs. Lincoln Leechof Big Run; Mrs. Dane hanscome, of DuBois; Mrs. J.L. Orme, of Crafton.

Funeral services will be held at the Sink home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, by Rev. Charles A. Clark. The body will be taken to Big Run on the 2:35 streetcar, and burial will be made in the Bowers Cemetery.

ELIZABETH BAUER SERVICES MONDAY

MARCH 9, 1962.

Funeral services will be held Monday in Ringgold for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Schilling Bauer, Ringgold's oldest resident, who died Friday evening in the Adrian Hospital at the age of 85 years.

Mrs. Bauer was born Nov. 28, 1877, in Ringgold, a daughter of Samuel and Mary Jane Comiskey Schilling, and was married Aug. 11, 1896, to Christ W. Gauer, who died in 1941. She was a member of the Ringgold Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Herbert, of Clarendon Hills, Ill and two daughters, Mrs. Cortlandt Byron, of Ford City, and Mrs. William Shippy of Ringgold. She leaves also a grandson, Cortlandt Byron Jr., and three great grandchildren, of Castile, N.?. (This article had one letter missing on part of the left border for about 3 inches down.)

Friends will be received after 7 o'clock tonight in the home of the daughter, Mrs. Shippy, in Ringgold. The body will be taken Monday afternoon to the Ringgold Methodist Church for funeral services at 2 o'clock. The Revs. Robert Britton and Herbert Shobert will officiate and Internment will be in Ringgold Cemetery.

ELIZABETH C. BOWERS

Mrs. Elizabeth C. Bowers, 88, a lifelong resident of Gaskill Township, died in her home Thursday after a long illness.

The deceased was born June 18, 1868 in Ringgold, a daughter of Harry and Abby Shaffer Geist. She was married Oct. 11, 1887 to Henry M. Bowers, who preceded her in death 22 years ago.

Surviving are three sons and three daughters: Henry C. Bowers and Mrs. Rossie Barrett, at home: Blaine Bowers, of Smithport: Theodore Bowers, of New Florence, Pa: Mrs. Blanche Wineberg, of Punxsutawney RD2, and Mrs. Ruth Rimer, of North Tonawanda. Fifteen grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren also survive.

Friends will be received in the William Mowrey Funeral Home in Big Run after 7 o'clock this evening and until time of services Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Cora V. Ardary, of Curwensville and the Rev. Raymond White will officiate. Internment will be in the Bowers Cemetery, near Big Run.

MRS. ELLEN BOWERS DIED EARLY TODAY AT HOME IN BOWERSVILLE

MOTHER OF H.G., W.A., AND L.E. BOWERS: OF THIS PLACE, SUCCUMBS. FUNERAL SERVICES NEXT MONDAY.

Mra. Ellen Rhoades Bowers, mother of H.G., L. E. and WA Bowers, of this place, died at her home this morning at 2:45 of a complication of diseases due to age. She was almost 82 years of age. She had been ill for several months.

The deceased was born on the farm adjacent to the one on which she died, April 14, 1942, a daughter of George and Anna Rhoads. She made her home her entire life within walking distance of the spot where she was born.

She was married to Jacob K. Bowers about 62 years ago. He died January 15, 1906. Mrs. Bowers had been a member of the Methodist church since she was 18 years of age. And had followed the teachings of Christ as nearly as it is possible for humanity to do so. She had won hundreds of friends by her kindliness and Cheerfulness. A woman of splendid intellect and poise, her death is deeply mourned.

She is survived by six sons and daughters: H.G., W.A., and L.E. Bowers, and Mrs. J.W. Smith, of this place: Mrs. M.E. Cessna, of Plumville, and Mrs. Meade Sutter, of Bowersville, and Mrs. Meade Sutter of Bowersville. One brother, George Rhoads and one sister, Mrs. Levi Eccelburger, of Gaskill Township, also survive Funeral services will be held at the late home of the deceased Monday afternoon beginning at 2 o'clock and Internment made in Circle Hill Cemetery, Rev. John Bowser, who preached the services for Jacob K. Bowers will officiate.

MRS ELSIE BOWSER DIES AT AGE OF 77

Mrs Elsie Taylor Bowser, 77, a former resident of Punxsutawney RD1, died Sunday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Manilla Schneitzinger, of New Castle.

The deceased was born June 28, 1984, in Jefferson County a daughter of Solomon and Lucinda Sheeley Peace. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Miss Anna H. Taylor: George Taylor, Marion Bowser, Fred Bowser and Mrs. Blanche Snyder all of New Kensington: Mrs. Manilla Schneitzinger, of New Castle:

Friends are being received in the F. L. Hankey and sons Funeral Home in New Kensington, between the hours of 7 and9 o'clock tonight. Services will be held in the Otterbein Church in McGees Mills Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial will be in the Otterbein Cemetery.

FRANCES E. BOWERS

Mrs. Frances E. Bowers, a well known local resident and for many years a respected county employee, died Tuesday in the Blose-McGregor Medicare Center here at the age of 80 years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Schenkemeyer Funeral Home.

The Rev. John C. Cogley will officiate and Internment will be in the Circle Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received in the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Saturday until time for services. Mrs. Bowers was born May 19, 1892, a daughter of Frithjof and Ragnhild Lieungh Lund and was married to I. Ray Bowers. She was a member of the first English Lutheran Church, the Irving Club, Garden Club, B.P.O.E. auxiliary, the American Association of University Women and was a past matron of the Eastern Star here. She was graduated from DuBois High School in 1912 and attended the University of Pittsburgh. For many years Mrs. Bowers was a valued employee in the offices in the courthouse in Brookville.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a brother, Carl Lund, of Charleston W. Va., and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Kochert, of Los Angeles, Calif.

FRANCES W. BAUER

MAY 22 1967

Mrs. Frances Willard Bauer, of 107 North Gilpin Street, died Monday in her home at the age of 75.

She was born August 8, 1891 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of Howard and Clara Graffius Bair.

She was married to Roger H. Bauer, who died February 10 1932. She was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Church. She was a lifelong resident of Punxsutawney and last of her family.

Surviving are a son, Roger H., of Oil City: three daughters, Mrs. H.L. Kaness, of Oil City; Mrs. Donald Eberhart, of Punxsutawney RD3, and Mrs. Harold Postlethwait, of Warren: 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Schenkemeyer Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Parish Rosary will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Saints Cosmas and Damian Church. The Rev. Joseph J. Willey will be the celebrant and Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

G.C BOWERS, OF BIG RUN, DIES AT 88

JULY 11 1960

George C. Bowers, for 49 years cashier of the Citizen Bank in Big Run, died Monday at the St. Bernadette Nursing Home in Philadelphia following an illness of three months. He was 8* years of age.

A native of Winslow, Gaskill township, where he was born Dec. 13, 1871, he was a son of William and Minerva Winslow Bowers, members of two pioneer families in this district. He was married to Ann Day Applegate in 1909. Mr. Bowers was a member of the Big run Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge in Punxsutawney, the Jaffa Shrine, of Altoona, and the Coudersport Consistory.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Dr. Paul A. Bowers of Philadelphia; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Dorrian, of Chicago: five grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Alice Bowers, of Punxsutawney RD3, Gaskill Township.

Friends will be received after 5 o'clock tonight in the McDonald Funeral Home in Big Run where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Revs. Sigurd Kristiansen and Ralph Brooks will officiate and Internment will be in Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.

GEORGE H. BOWERS

Funeral services were held in Coraopolis yesterday for George H. Bowers, of Coraopolis RD3 who died in his home Friday, November 17 1967, at the age of 82.

The Rev. Robert Carson officiated at services in the Copeland Funeral Home and burial was in the Lakewood Cemetery in Dorseyville.

Born January 8, 1885, in Indiana County, he was a son of Simon and Elizabeth Griffin Bowers and was married to Beulah white. A former resident of Punxsutawney, he had resided in Coraopolis the past 20 years. He was a past member of the I.O.O.F., a member of the F.O.Eagles the Redmen and the Grange in Punxsutawney.

Surviving are his wife: four sons and five daughters, Elmer of Darlington: Mark, of Seweckley: Max and Mrs. Irene Guzzo of Punxsutawney: Williard, of Rochester, N.Y.: Mrs. Arthur Theiss, of Etna: Mrs. Almira Bruan, of New Jersey: Mary Louise, at home and Mrs. Clara Vasbinder, of Coraopolis. He leaves also 25 grandchildren: 25 great grandchildren: four brothers and a sister, Harry, Samuel, Glenn, William and Mrs. Sarah Craft.

GEORGE L. BOWER, OF RD1, DEAD AT 82.

George L. Bower, 82, of Brookville RD1, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Shaffer, Friday following an illness of two years.

Born near Hazen March 12, 1867, he was the son of Jerry and Sarah Mason Bower. He married twice, the first time to Martha May Shadle, who died in 1927. His second marriage was to Gertrude Morey, who survives He worked as a lumberman, a farmer and served as a night watchman for the Jefferson Coal Company before his retirement.

Surviving are two sons: Jay L. Bower, of Baden, and Alvin Bower, of Brockway, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lucille L. Shaffer of Brookville RD1, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren one brother, Albert Bower, of near Brookville and two sisters, Mrs. Rosie Patton, of Brockway, and Mrs. Elva Clark of Falls Creek RD1 also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 o'clock in the Gray Funeral Home here. The Rev. Ralph Brooks, of Big Run, will officiate and internment will be in the Temple Cemetery, Hazen.

GEORGE M. BOWERS DIES AT HOME NEAR HILLMAN

George M. Bowers, a respected farmer, died at his home near Hillman last night at 10 o'clock of a complication of diseases at the age of 58 years he had been ill since last fall.

The deceased was born on a farm near where he died and was one of the successful farmers of that vicinity. He was a member of the M.E. Church and of the Mahoning Lodge of Odd Fellows, of Big Run. He had lived a clean, honest, upright life that had endeared him to all who knew him and who sincerely mourn his death.

He is survived by his mother, his widow, three brothers and one sister. The names of the brothers and sisters are Andrew and Isaac Bowers of Hillman: Miller, of McGees Mills and Mrs. William Yohe of Hillman. Funeral services will be held Thursday and burial made in the cemetery at the Davis Church.

GERTRUDE M. BOWER DIES AT AGE OF 74

Funeral services will be held Friday in Brookville for Mrs. Gertrude Mae Bower, of Brookville RD1, who died Monday night in the home of a daughter with whom she lived. She was 74 years of age.

Born in Warsaw Twp, near Hazen, Jane 3, 1883, a daughter of Henry H. and Linda Slawson Morey, she was married first to Wade Wilson who died in 1920 and then to George L. Bower who died in 1949. Mrs. Bower had lived the past 12 years with her daughter and was a resident of the Hazen area all her life.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Shaffer and two grandsons. Friends will be received in the Work Funeral Home in Brookville where services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. The Rev Ralph Brooks, of Big Run, will officiate and Internment will be in the Temple Cemetery, near Hazen.

GLENN BOWERS

APR 26 1970

Funeral services will be held in Girard, Ohio, tomorrow for Glenn Bowers, of Girard, who died Sunday in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.

A retired locomotive engineer for the Republic Steel Corp., he was born in Rossiter September 11 1894, a son of Simon and Sarah Griffith Bowers and in 1915 was married to Sara E. States. He was a member of United Methodist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Charles of Youngstown, and Carl of Girard. He leaves also six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Sarah Craft of Margate, Fla., and two brothers, William Bowers of Lake Milton, O., and Samuel Bowers, of Rossiter Services will be held in the Blackstone Funeral Home on Liberty Street in Girard, Wednesday at 1 p.m. Internment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Youngstown.

MRS. GOLDIE BOWERS

Mrs. Goldie (Fisher) Bowers died in a nursing home in Pittsburgh recently.

Mrs. Bowers was born in Punxsutawney and was raised on a farm near Rossiter. Mrs Bowers had been in declining health for almost a year. Internment was in Pittsburgh.

HAROLD B. BOWERS, 60

Harold B. Bowers, 60, formerly of Lemoyne, died Friday, May 1, 1992 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Lebanon.

Mr. Bowers was born December 8, 1931 in Springdale, the son of Wade and Nellie (Casaday) Bowers. He was married to the former Ruth Harris. He later married the former Grace Barnhardt.

He was retired from the U.S. Air Force.

Surviving relatives include one daughter, Debra Bowers of California: one step son, Andrew Barnhardt of Arizona, Pa.: two sisters; Mrs. Harry (Frances) Fritz of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. George (Esther) Jordan of State College: and two brothers: James Bowers of Redwood, Calif., and Dale Bowers of Punxsutawney.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Caylor.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Deeley Funeral Home of Punxsutawney. The Rev John Hodge will officiate. Internment will be in Bowers Cemetery.

Friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

HARRY BOWERS

Feb 27, 1969

Harry Bowers, of 81 Central Street, Rossiter, died this morning in the Adrian Hospital at the age of 72.

Born December 26, 1896, in Indiana County, he was a son of Simon and Sarah Griffith Bowers and was married October 19, 1917, to Kathryne Casaday. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Rossiter, the Lions Club, the LOOM and the FO Eagles.

A life long resident of the Rossiter area, he had been a tax collector and justice of the peace in Rossiter for many years. He was a retired miner.

Surviving are his wife: a daughter, Mrs. Richard (LaRue) Hyde, of Harrisburg: a son Donald, of Lompoc, Calif.; three brothers, Samuel, of Rossiter, William, of Lake Milton, O., and Glenn, of Girard, O., and a sister, Mrs. Sara Craft, of Florida

Funeral arrangements, in charge of the Schenkemeyer Funeral Home, have not been completed.

H. G. BOWERS DIES IN HOME HERE, AGED 83

Hon. Harvey G. Bowers, former Senator from the 37th district of Pennsylvania, ex county treasurer, banker, lumberman, coal operator and an outstanding citizen of Punxsutawney and vicinity his entire life, died at 8; 15 o'clock this morning in his home on East Mahoning Street, aged 83 years

After his retirement from the office of county treasurer, January 1, 1946, age began to make its inroads on his always rugged health and for several weeks his condition had been such that death, the end of a long and fruitful life, was not unexpected when it came.

A member of one of the oldest families in Jefferson County, Mr. Bowers was born in Winslow, Gaskill Township, November 20, 1864, the son of Jacob K. and Ellen (Rhoades) Bowers. He attended the township school and when a very young man come to Punxsutawney to engage in the coal and lumber business in both of which he was markedly successful. During his long business career he operated with others the Bowers Brothers Coal Co., later the Bowersville Coal Co, the Banks Coal Co., The Pratt Coal Co., the Arthur Coal Co., the Straitwell Coal Co., the Hamilton Coal Co., the Pansy Coal Co., and numerous others. He at one time operated the Punxsutawney Planing mill on the present site of the Kurtz coal, Lumber and Supply Company operation' was president of the Cloe the administration of the Weber Memorial Training School. He was an active member of the First Methodist Church.

The most civic minded of men his philanthropy knew no limits in the days of his affluence. Kindly, considerate always, friendly in the extreme, his acquaintanceship was wide and thousands knew him as a friend to whom they could turn for material assistance and for counsel. He maintained his standard of life on an exceptional plane and his refusal to compromise his conscience brought him the sincere and lasting respect of his fellows the while it cost him greatly in material things. His death brings to a close a life that will leave its impression on the community for many years; life so lived that it gained for him the love and the great respect of his fellows.

Friends will be received in the Morrison Funeral Home here after 7 o'clock Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock there with burial in the family plot in Circle Hill Cemetery. Rev. J.A. Cousins will officiate.

HENRY CLYDE BOWERS

Henry Clyde Bowers, a lifelong resident of RD2 Punxsutawney died yesterday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Rhoades. He was 90 years of age.

Mr. Bowers was born on July 9, 1888 in Gaskill Township, Jefferson County, and a son of Henry M. and Elizabeth (Geist) Bowers. A veteran of the First World War and a member of the Chestnut Grove Church, he spent his entire life in this area. He was a retired farmer and carpenter by trade.

Surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Blanche Wineburg, and Mrs. Rossie Barrett, both of RD2 Punxsutawney: a brother, the Rev. Theodore R. Bowers of Three Springs, Pa.: and a number of nieces and nephews. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Friends will be received at the Jess McCracken Funeral Home in Big Run Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 23 from the funeral home, K.C.Conrad officiating. Internment will follow at the Bowers Cemetery, Punxsutawney Road.

LONG RESIDENT OF GASKILL TOWNSHIP DIES

MAY 27, 1934

Henry M. Bowers, pioneer lumberman, succumbed at home Sunday at the age of 83.

Henry M. Bowers, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, and a pioneer lumberman, died at his home in Gaskill Township Sunday after noon at 6 o'clock of infirmities of old age. He was 83 years of age.

The deceased was born in the house in which he died August 10, 1851, a son of the late John and Jane (miller) Bowers. He was raised to young manhood there, and on October 11, 1887, was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Geist. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant Church of Chestnut Grove. The deceased was well known throughout Jefferson County where his death is sincerely mourned by a multitude of friends.

He is survived by his wife, one brother, John L. Bowers, of Juniata and the following sons and daughters: H. Clyde, at home: Wade M. of Stingdale: Blain, at home: Mrs. Olin Wineburg, of Gaskill Township: Mrs. Mckinley Barrett, of Altoona, Mrs. Carl Rimer and Theodore, at home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, beginning at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. Atkinson in charge. Burial will be in the Bowers Cemetery.

AREA NATIVE DIES IN CLEARFIELD HOSPITAL

January 24, 1950

Herman Bowers, a native of the Punxsutawney area, died yesterday in the Clearfield Hospital at the age of 77. Mr. Bowers had been a resident of Clearfield for 50 years.

Born May 31, 1872, near this city Mr. Bowers was the son of Abraham and Emily Devers Bowers, and was married to Margaret Elbell, of Indiana County. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Surviving are these children: Naolen, Greydon, Linton and Mrs. Naomi Nelson, of Clearfield: Mrs. Emily Dunlap, of Lock Haven, and Eden, of Pontiac, Mi. One sister, Mrs. Laura Cochran, of Leechburg, 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Nicholson Funeral Home in Clearfield and burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park there.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday for I. Ray Bowers of 511 North Main Street, Punxsutawney, who died Saturday, July 13, 1974, at the Blose Mcgregor Health Care Center here. He was 87 years of age.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Schenkemeyer Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Herbert E Claar will officiate and burial will follow in Circle Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Bowers, a well known businessman in the Punxsutawney area, was born April 6, 1887, in Winslow, a son of Harvey G. and Lily Mae Cessna Bowers and was married in September 1925 to Frances Lund, who died October 4, 1972. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; the B.P.O. Elks: the Weber Club: the Corn Cob Club and was treasurer for the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club for 33 years. He attended Allegheny College and Conservatory of Music in Boston. A lifelong resident of the area he was retired from the coal, lumber and natural gas business which he had operated for many years.

Surviving are the following cousins Misses Sarah and Edith Bowers, George C. Bowers, Mrs. Nellie Hause and Wayne Cessna, all of Punxsutawney: Clyde Cessna of Niles, Ohio, Arthur Cessna of Plumville, and Mrs. Donald Scott of Warren Ohio.
