Jacob Bowers' Heirs
Rowan County, North Carolina - 1815
The following is a copy of a photostatic record certified by Mrs. Hope Uzzell, Deputy Register of Deeds, Rowan Co., Salisbury NC -- Deed Book 23, pg. 494 --
This indenture made the fifteenth day of Aprile & in the year of our Lord, one thousand and eight hundred & fifteen, between JOHN BOWERS, GEORGE BOWERS, JACOB BOWERS, JOHN MYERS and ELIZABETH his wife, JOHN CLODFELTER and CATY his wife, DANIEL SULLIVAN & BARBARA his wife, MARY BOWERS, and SARAH BOWERS, all of the county of Rowan and state of N. Carolina of the one part and DAVID BOWERS of the county and state aforesaid on the other part. WITNESSENTH that the said JOHN BOWERS, GEORGE BOWERS, JACOB BOWERS, JOHN MYERS and ELIZABETH, JOHN CLODFELTER and CATEY his wife, MARY BOWERS, DANIEL SULLIVAN & BARBARA his wife & SARAH BOWERS, heirs in law of the Estate of JACOB BOWERS, dec'd, for and in consideration of five hundred dollars, to them in hand paid by the sd. DAVID BOWERS at or before the sealing and delivering hereof, the receipt whereof the said heirs hereby fully acknowledged, they, the aforesaid heirs, have granted, bargained, sold, aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said DAVID BOWERS & his heirs & assigns forever a certain messuage, piece or parcel of land in said County on both sides of the North Fork of Hambys Creek ,it being part of a tract of land deeded to said JACOB BOWERS. Deed by Mr. Bowers, bounded as follows -- beginning at a Black Oak in Hepler's line, JACOB OWERS corner & runs on said line north 13 degrees east 18 chains and 80 links to the old corner Persimmon & hence west, crossing the Creek bounded by Foutses, 55 chains to a post & hence south, bounded by Knoys, 18 chains & 10 links to Spanish Oak, JACOB BOWERS corner, thence east on his line to the beginning, containing 95 and 1/2 acres, be the same more or less, together with all & singular the improvements & appurtenances, to the said tract of land belonging & appurtaining, to the said DAVID BOWERS, his heirs & assigns forever, and the said heirs above mentioned both agree to warrant & forever defend the above bargained message & premise unto the said DAVID BOWERS and his heirs and assigns forever. In WITNESS hereof the said heirs have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals, the day and year first above mentioned. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of us Jacob Bringle & John Reddell --
