Daniel Joseph Bowers of
Ireland and Canada

Daniel Joseph Bowers [born 1851, died 1906] was a coacle [shell] farmer and carriage maker in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. He married Mary "Molly" Brown, probably about 1884. Daniel was paralyzed in the latter part of his life and died at the age of 55.

Daniel Bowers and Mary Molly Brown had five children:

1.) Katherine May Bowers: born 1885, died 1947. At the age of 15, Katherine was sent to Kent, England to work as a domestic servant in a manor home. There she met and married Edward Henry Hammond in Bexley Heath, Kent, England in 1905. They came to Montreal, Canada on the Empress of Ireland in 1907. They had 13 children, 7 which lived. All were born in Canada except two.

2.) Twin Sister to Katherine: born 1885, died around the age of 14 in Tralee, County Cork, Ireland.

3.) Barnard Bowers [also known as Ned of Barney]: born 1898, died 1957 in Montreal, Canada; his wife is unknown, but they had two children.

4.) Daniel Bowers: born 1899, died ?; Daniel lived in Ireland all his life. He had two children both of whom moved to the States in the late 1940's-early 50's, and settled in the New York State area.

5.) Unknown Child: there seems to be no information on this child's birth and how long he or she lived, but he or she was their last child.
